- Is Advocacy Academy free?
- Yes — the entire Library, the Trailhead guided intake, and the community are free, and they stay free. There is no paywall anywhere, and there never will be. The skills that make civic action effective belong on the public side of the wall. If the Academy ever sells anything, it will be physical — a spiral-bound compendium of the Library with the worksheets bound in — never access to the information itself.
- Do I need an account to use it?
- No. Everything is readable without signing in. You can create a free account if you want your progress tracked across modules, but nothing is locked behind a login and nothing is locked behind a price.
- Who is it for?
- People who are showing up to fights they did not train for, facing institutions and opponents that did: the parent trying to get a school district to honor an IEP, the neighbor facing a rezoning, the volunteer at a small nonprofit, the person starting a community group from scratch. Professional advocates may find value here, but they already have this training — they are not the center of gravity.
- What is the Library?
- The whole method, laid out as a traversable arc you can walk at your own pace: Foundations, Field, Craft, Campaign, and Sustain, plus application tracks (Parent Advocate today, more to come) that take the universal method onto specific terrain. You can read straight through in order or jump to what you need — nothing is locked.
- What is Trailhead?
- Trailhead is the guide for someone who arrives with a fight already in motion. You describe your goal in your own words, and a structured intake finds the goal beneath it and hands you a short critical path — the specific modules your fight needs, in order, sized to finish in a single evening. When you have done that training, Trailhead opens a preparation room where you draft what the fight requires: the story map, the phrase bank, the ask and its fallback.
- Can it help me if my meeting is tomorrow?
- Yes — that is exactly the case the Academy is built for. Trailhead gives you a critical path small enough to finish tonight and then helps you draft what you will say. It will not pretend one prepared night wins a multi-year fight, but you will walk in more prepared, clearer, and calmer than the room expects.
- Is it partisan?
- No. The Academy does not sort people by party or faction. The parent fighting a school board on left-coded policy and the parent fighting on right-coded policy meet the same curriculum and the same ethical floor. Skill, not side. It teaches ethical persuasion only — never deception, coercion, or manipulation.
- Does it replace showing up?
- No. The training makes showing up more prepared, more strategic, and more effective — it does not do the showing up for you. The meeting still has to be attended, the letter still sent, the hard conversation still had. Lasting change comes from continuing to train, attending the meetings, and coming to know the decision-makers.
