Knowing the mechanisms turns storytelling from a knack into a craft you can run on purpose, and lets you diagnose exactly why a story that should have worked didn't.

The difference between a line that lands and a line that lies flat is almost never the idea — it's the craft of the sentence. This module is the sentence-level work: the Flat-vs-Alive revision that swaps abstraction for one concrete detail, the rhythm of long and short that keeps a listener with you, and the pacing that slows down for weight and speeds up for momentum.

The Story Map, Advanced~8 min

In Foundations the Story Map gave your story its bones. Craft teaches you what a master does with it: build deliberately toward the Turn — the single pivot where something changes and the listener changes with it — and calibrate one story to two listeners at once, so the same telling reaches the heart in the room and the head beside it without splitting in two.

Layered Meaning~7 min

The most durable advocacy communicates on two levels at once — what it literally says, and what it means underneath. This module is the advanced instrument: the controlling metaphor that carries your whole case in one image, the symbol that lets a small concrete thing stand for a large abstract one, and the restraint that keeps a layered message from collapsing into a gimmick.

Complex Counterarguments~8 min

Foundations gave you ALARA for handling an objection in the moment. Craft gives you the diagnosis behind it: most objections fall into a small number of types — factual, feasibility, values, identity, and self-interest — and each type wants a different kind of answer. Match the response to the type, master Concede-and-Redirect for the objections that are partly right, and you stop getting stuck on the hard ones.

Preemptive Rebuttal~7 min

The strongest objection to your case is going to get raised whether you like it or not — so raise it yourself, first, and answer it on your terms. This module is inoculation: anticipating the real objections with SWOT and the empathy map, building the biggest one into your own argument, and the judgment call of which objections to preempt and which to leave alone.

The Logical Fallacies Field Guide~8 min

A working catalog of the six reasoning errors that show up most in real advocacy fights — straw man, false dichotomy, slippery slope, ad hominem, appeal to authority, and whataboutism. For each: how to spot it, how to name it in the room without sounding like a debate-club robot, and — the part that matters most — how to keep it out of your own arguments.
